Today, January 28, we celebrate International Personal Data Protection Day, a date that highlights the importance of privacy and information security in Brazil and around the world. Since the General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD) came into force, we have made significant progress in building a data protection culture, promoting transparency, responsibility and trust in the digital environment.
In this context of accelerated technological progress, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the increasing use of data for decision-making, data protection is taking on an even more crucial role. It is important to emphasize that AI-based technologies rely heavily on a large volume of personal and non-personal data for training, which increases the risks related to data protection and highlights the need to pay attention to the principle of necessity in the treatment provided.
Therefore, it is essential to ensure that these advances are made ethically, transparently and in compliance with the rights of data subjects, enabling innovation in harmony with the protection of personal data, which today is no longer considered just a legal obligation, but also a competitive advantage for companies wishing to stand out in an increasingly demanding and aware market.
We congratulate all the professionals, companies and organizations that have dedicated themselves to implementing and strengthening the data protection culture. May we continue to evolve together, balancing innovation and respect for privacy in the age of artificial intelligence.
